Representative Harold P. Naughton, Jr. Announces Electric Vehicle Charger Station Grant for the Town of Lancaster

LANCASTER, MA - State Representative Harold P. Naughton, Jr. is pleased to report that Lancaster is one of 25 municipalities across the Commonwealth that will receive electric vehicle charging station grants. The Lancaster station will be located at the Johnny Appleseed Trails Visitor Center.

These stations will primarily be located in parking garages, downtown streets, schools, and shopping malls. The stations will be paid from a 2007 settlement with an Ohio based power plant for alleged pollution violations in the amount of $280,000. Also contributing to the stations funding is a California based company, Coulomb Technologies, which received federal stimulus money.

“I am excited to see my district take advantage of such progressive initiatives,” Rep. Naughton said. “As we face challenges such as rising unemployment and gas prices, it is important our government and leaders look to new and innovative ways to combat these issues, and encourage citizens to incorporate new technology into everyday life. These new stations will allow the public to better utilize electric and hybrid cars, and will go towards moving the Commonwealth into the 21st century.”
