Public Safety and Homeland Security Chairman Harold Naughton
Recognizes Final Removal of Osama Bin Ladin

BOSTON - Representative Harold P. Naughton, Jr., House Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, a Captain in the United States Army Reserve and a veteran of the Iraq War, today responded to the action steps taken by special U.S. forces surrounding the capturing and killing of Osama bin Laden.

“I commend President Obama and his administration along with the valiant actions of the United States military for their successful efforts in bringing down Osama bin Laden,” said Chairman Naughton. “I echo our President’s sentiments when I say that this is a good day for America.”

“In addition to being a day of recognition, it is also a day to remember our great loss on September 11, 2001,” added Naughton. “We must also pay tribute to those brave men and women who gave their lives fighting the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. This event is another chapter in the war, but unfortunately not the final one. Now is not the time to let down our guard either locally or nationally. Our Commonwealth is on an appropriate heightened alert as our officials are using an excess of caution at this time.”
