BOSTON - Representative
Harold P. Naughton, Jr., House Chairman of the
Joint Committee for Public Safety and Homeland
Security, helped honor Massachusetts Iwo Jima
veterans at the Massachusetts State House on
Friday, February 18, 2011.
I was
honored to be given the chance to recognize
some of the greatest heroes in our country,
said Naughton. It is important that we as
Americans do all we can in honoring the
enormous sacrifices these veterans made for
our freedom. I am proud to be among these
heroes on a day where we remember a battle
that cost so many American lives. I join my
other colleagues in thanking them for all they
have done. They truly are an inspiration and
their example one we would all do well to
follow.
Naughton was
joined by a number of elected officials,
including Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, who was
a recipient of the Semper Fidelis Public
Service Award, Senator Scott Brown, Attorney
General Martha Coakley, and a number of
elected officials in recognizing Iwo Jima Day.
Chairman Naughton was asked to help present
the Semper Fidelis Award to former Speaker of
the House Thomas McGee.
